It’s a strange concept how the body can be sore and achy from the exact opposite. Sitting, screens, indoors, couches, potatoes. Fresh air, sweating, sunshine, busy bee, pavement. Achy from not moving. Achy from being active. They can feel very similar to the body. But to the mind, one feels old and lazy, and the other feels active and energetic. I’ve always liked the feeling of muscle soreness from a walk, jog, bike ride, yoga session, or any other movement. It’s like a constant reminder that I did something good for myself. That I did something while the majority of the world around me chose the potato route. It doesn’t have to be some extreme of “feel the burn!,” but that little bit of muscle ache to let you know you moved.
As I am now 40, I find that something typically aches. I get to choose whether the ache is from making myself better, or whether it’s from throwing the towel in on life. So many seem to be okay with the latter option, which is always, always, always the worst of those 2 options. Our bodies were made to move. Our minds enjoy our bodies moving. The ground likes us walking, running, moving across it. Otherwise it’s just a rock holding up the weight of our butts and the weight of the TVs we are watching. Let the ground be the springboard to life, it’s got way more potential than supporting a bunch of potatoes.
