Hot and sticky. Sometimes those are the best times to get out and move. When it’s cool, or balmy, or perfect, or whatever, then you can decide what outfit to wear to maximize the pleasantness of being outside. When it’s a humidity soaked August day, it doesn’t matter what you’ll wear to exercise because you’ll be dripping in sweat regardless of your choice. So with knowing I would be drenched, I headed out into the wall of mugginess.
I just went for a couple mile walk. A run might have been in the cards if I didn’t decide to eat and snack and eat most of the afternoon. My gut didn’t want to bounce around, so a walk was better than nothing. It also made me feel not so terrible about the snacking.
I did manage to find a toad along the way. I always loved finding them as a kid. I was always one of those kids that hated to touch gross things. That basically defines anything that moves and didn’t have a collar on it. But my exception as a kid included toads. Not frogs. Just toads. They had a rough and dry exterior, so I was never going to get poisonous slime on me. They weren’t pumped full of venom as every snake in the world was. They didn’t have 8 legs like the evil spiders had, each leg more evil than the last. They were just plump little creatures. Plus they were slower than everything else, so it meant I had a chance of catching one. So I was happy to come across him today. I named him Toad, as that was the name I gave every toad that I caught when I was a kid. I’m glad he decided to go out for a walk the same time I did.
Overall I was pretty happy with my weekend of getting outside. Outdoor yoga. Outdoor jog. Outdoor walk. Maybe next weekend I can add a bicycle ride in there.

The song I’m closing my weekend to is Donovan Frankenreiter, Could Be One of Those Days. I’ve heard him once in concert, very awesome experience. I hadn’t heard this song until right when I finished my sticky walk.
Sometimes you win,
Sometimes you lose
Your lucky numbers
Aint the ones to choose
Sometimes you win
Sometimes you fall
I love to beat the house
With every road

We always have a road to take, a road to choose. There’s not always a right or wrong road, but we can always do the best we can with the road we are on. If we really dislike our road, then find a new one. Make a new one if need be if it doesn’t seem like it exists.
Tomorrow is Monday, the start of a new work week for most people. It will be the only August 24, 2020 in the history of the world. Make it a good one.
