What serves you?

My Saturday outdoor yoga started and ended with a poem read by the teacher, which focused on letting go of things that do not serve you. This can be difficult to do, but it is extremely important. Some things bring us happiness and joy, some bring negativity and toxicity. Why not try to surround ourselves with happiness and joy? It is okay to rid ourselves of what is not working for us. We tend to feel comfortable with doing what we know, but we need to always be evaluating if those comfortable things are potentially harming. Familiar doesn’t necessarily mean good.

People starting to arrive for class.

Such a great feeling to move under the sun today. “Hear Comes the Sun” by the Beatles was on the teacher’s playlist. The Beatles recorded this masterpiece in the summer of 1969. It was written by George Harrison at Eric Clapton’s home in one of the darker times of George’s life. It is the perfect anthem to step away from what doesn’t serve us, to open up to accept that happiness and joy.

Has to be one of best album covers ever.

The thought is to be aware of ourselves, aware of our surroundings, aware of our thoughts, and aware of our feelings. We tend to know what might not be serving us in our life, but we are scared to step away from it. That step tends to be a step more towards our true self, more towards happiness. It is okay to listen to ourselves, as we know more about ourselves then anyone else on this lovely planet.
