Not very sunny, not sure if the haze is from the numerous fires out west. I can’t imagine what they’re dealing with: evacuations, destruction of homes and businesses, and loss of life. While I have the luxury of no disasters in Iowa, I figured I should head out as there’s plenty other than sunshine to enjoy.
Jefferson Airplane was in the background for the majority of my outdoor excursion. An album (technically cd) I had bought in high school, Surrealistic Pillow. A couple of huge hits are on this second album of one of the pioneering bands of psychedelic rock, which was released in 1967. The album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard charts that year, and went on to become platinum, meaning selling over 1 million copies. Grace Slick’s voice provided the very distinct sound of some of their most well-known songs. Fun fact: She is “credited” as the first person the say the F word on television, occurring when Jefferson Airplane performed a song on The Dick Cavett Show in 1969. I’ve heard of Dick Cavett, but will admit that’s my current knowledge of him.

I came across a multitude of fun little flowers today. As fall feels like it is wanting to set in, there’s less flowers that seem to pop out at me. I managed to find pink, yellow, and white amongst plenty of others, but these following 3 are the ones that asked to have their photo taken.
The China Rose is not surprisingly native to China, Southwest China to be specific. Differing colors symbolize for differing things. As in this case, pink represents first love.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the following, a Common bird’s-foot trefoil. Although I think it looks fantastic, it is an unwanted, invasive plant. In Britain, it is commonly referred to as “butter and eggs,” due to its appearance.

The last flower that rounded out my walk was White heath aster. It spreads at a rate of 1 foot per year.

It was a nice 3 mile, fairly leisurely walk. A good way to end the weekend that started with morning yoga yesterday, but I don’t know if that means I have to go to bed, as it’s only 4:30 pm still.
