Cool morning, hot coffee.

Finishing up a whirlwind weekend of flying to New Mexico for my mom’s birthday. Lots of mask-wearing and distancing on the travel. The sun gods smiled upon the weekend with much warmer than average temps, allowing us to spend basically the entire time outdoors.

Her birthday day dinner was paella, the tasty rice and seafood dish that they learned to love during their time living in Spain when my dad was in the Navy. Of course I ate way too much, but it was worth it.

So much goodness.

The background music of the evening was a mix of Bob Marley and Jack Johnson. Seemed to fill the air nicely surrounded by family, as well as some tasty wine and beer.

This morning, I am enjoying coffee in the brisk air. Ted Lennon’s Desert Winds is playing on my phone, which seems fitting given the fact I’m in the desert. He grew up on the coast of California, which you can hear in his music. His and Jack Johnson’s musical paths crossed in the 90’s, so a nice little tie to my evening yesterday.

Good morning.

I better head in to get myself a refill. Then the goal will be head out for a walk with my mom, followed by a solo jog afterwards, then finishing with a plunge in their pool. Enjoy you day.
