A very windy 5k run is in the books for the weekend, but I can’t complain as it warmed into the low 50’s here in recent days. Lots of red and green festive outfits. I managed to show up extra early to the wrong location, but I eventually figured it out in time to show up to the starting line 45 seconds before it started.

Christmas music was the obvious choice to play on my headphones during it. This included Brenda Lee’s Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree. Although this is the song I know her for, she had 47 US chart hits during the 1960’s, ranking her 4th behind the greats Elvis, the Beatles, and Ray Charles. Pretty good company. Not bad for a 4’9” star nicknamed “Little Miss Dynamite.”

Today, the day after the run, my leg muscles are asking me why I didn’t slow it down a bit. The soreness can be my reminder today that I’m proud of myself for getting off the couch yesterday to join a group of people that wanted to come together for fun and to support their town’s holiday festivities.
